Buschsieweke Metallbau: Tradition Meets Future

At Buschsieweke Metallbau in Rietberg (Germany), two generations work hand-in-hand: Managing Director Konrad Buschsieweke and his daughter Nadine Buschsieweke. She was the only woman in the metal construction master craftsman course at the Bielefeld Master Craftsman School  (Germany) and now brings her knowledge and perspective as a future leader to the company. Father and daughter are jointly shaping the generational transition – step by step, with respect, clarity, and the shared goal of securing the family business's future sustainably.

Metal in the Blood: How Buschsieweke Metallbau is Moving into the Future

In a male-dominated industry, Buschsieweke Metallbau in Rietberg is making a statement. The company, with 15 employees, stands for artisanal quality, technical expertise, and the aspiration to combine tradition with innovation. The company is currently led by Konrad Buschsieweke – together with his daughter Nadine Buschsieweke, who is gradually preparing for her future role. The family business is now in its third generation – it was founded by Konrad Buschsieweke Senior, the grandfather of the current junior partner.

Growing Up at Buschsieweke

Nadine Buschsieweke grew up within the company. Even as a child, she was regularly in the workshop, learning about processes, materials, and basic craft principles early on. For her, Buschsieweke Metallbau was never just a company – but a part of the family.

Master Craftsman School in Bielefeld: The Only Woman in the Course

To thoroughly prepare for her role in the company, Nadine decided to pursue master craftsman training in metal construction – and was the only woman in her class at the Bielefeld Master Craftsman School. Initially, she was met with reserve, but with her professional skill and clear determination, she convinced everyone across the board. Her final project, a complex steel construction, was technically demanding and precisely executed. She intentionally completed her apprenticeship at a different company – she wanted to see how others worked and to prove herself without family influence.

The company is currently led by Konrad Buschsieweke – together with his daughter Nadine Buschsieweke, who is gradually preparing for her future role.

"I want to show that craftsmanship has a future –
and that this future can also be female."

Precision Requires Good Tools

Especially in metal construction, accuracy determines the quality of the final product. To reliably master technical challenges, high-quality tools are indispensable. The company relies on precise measuring technology from STABILA – because only with reliable results can demanding constructions be implemented efficiently and cleanly. For Buschsieweke Metallbau, good tools are not a luxury, but the foundation for professional work at a high level.

Partnership Between Father and Daughter

Today, Nadine Buschsieweke is an integral part of the company – as her father's partner, who continues to hold the management position. Together, they are working to make the company future-proof. Nadine is already introducing initial ideas – for example, in organization, planning, or dealing with new technologies. Her female perspective complements the established company culture and will unfold more strongly over time. A complete generational change is not immediately imminent – but it is prepared. When Nadine takes over leadership will be decided jointly – when the right time comes.

Looking to the Future

Buschsieweke Metallbau is committed to sustainable growth: efficient processes, modern technology, and a strong connection between traditional craftsmanship and digital planning. Nadine not only wants to develop the company further but also to make a statement: for more women in skilled trades, for new approaches in metal construction – and for a future built on quality and responsibility.
