My1stabila 2023 – New opportunities and perspectives for young people worldwide
For many years now, STABILA has been committed to supporting young talent in the trade industry. As the world faces a large and increasingly prominent shortage of young people in trades, this is a mission that has become more important than ever. With the industry facing an acute shortage of tradespeople, the career prospects for the young are better today than they ever have been. It is a challenging situation that we, as a medium-sized family business, want to help overcome.
We visited six training centres and Chambers of Crafts and Trades across the whole of Germany once again this year. On these visits, we wanted to exchange ideas with the instructors and, most importantly, the trainees. Because what could be more logical than speaking to young talent about the lack of young talent?
Why do young people choose a career in a trade profession? What do apprentices enjoy the most? What are their goals once they complete their training? Are young people aware that there is a lack of young talent? We asked both apprentices and instructors all of these questions.
There was a broader range of answers than expected, just like the path of the trainees. After all, an apprenticeship in a trade profession offers many different options and opportunities for future careers. Salaries are getting better, working hours more flexible and the additional services more diverse, making it the perfect time for young people to get started in a trade.
Another important element in our promotion of young talent is providing training at vocational schools and training centres with a focus on the trade industry. We have also expanded this in the past year and each visit we made on site included one of our trainers.

Another aim for 2023 was internationalising the My1stabila campaign. Through this, we supported several organisations, schools and young tradespeople all over the world.
Again in 2023, we have reached millions of young people with our campaign on our marketing channels. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing how important it is to engage with this kind of issue facing society.
In 2024, we are looking forward to working with our global community and international partners to promote our goals and ambitions in promoting young talent in the trade industry. Our ultimate hope is to inspire lots of young people to explore a career in a trade profession!
