At STABILA, we understand how important it is for users to be able to rely on their measuring tools at all times. That is why we place great importance on the best materials, focus on in-house processes and have a thorough quality management process certified to DIN ISO 9001. Every product that leaves our premises has been checked several times during production to ensure that it satisfies our high STABILA quality standards.

Spirit Level Warranty Statement:
STABILA guarantees vials will not fog, leak, or lose their stated accuracy, for the lifetime of the level. If any of these occur due to manufacturer’s defect, STABILA will replace the level, without charge.

Electronics Warranty Statement:
STABILA will repair or replace any electronic product with manufacturer’s defect due to faulty materials or workmanship, within 2 years of purchase, without charge. Proof of purchase required for warranty claim.

STABILA Other Products and Accessories Warranty Statement:
STABILA will repair or replace any product with manufacturer’s defects, within 30 days of purchase, without charge. Proof of purchase required for warranty claim.

In tough working environments, accidents can happen, and cause damage to your measuring tools. Our STABILA Service Center offers free tool evaluation, which provides you with an in-depth analysis of your measuring tool. If your measuring tool is under warranty, repairs are completed free of charge, or your tool will be replaced if deemed unrepairable. Repair service is also available for measuring tools no longer covered under warranty. A repair estimate will be provided with your product evaluation and only authorized repairs will be completed. Your STABILA product will be checked and repaired by qualified specialists. Only original STABILA spare parts will be used to ensure your measuring tool will measure accurately again after the repair.

Limited edition measuring tools and discontinued measuring tools will not be replaced with the exact product if sent in for warranty.

In the event a new measuring tool is defective when purchased from a STABILA dealer or Amazon retailer, please follow the return policy of the STABILA dealer or Amazon retailer to have your measuring tool replaced.

STABILA Service Evaluation Procedure

Sending products to a STABILA Service Center: Products may be turned in at an authorized dealer or shipped directly to the nearest STABILA Service Center via FedEx, UPS, or certified mail, at the customer’s expense. A Service Evaluation form must be filled out with the point of contact and product defect(s) for each product being returned to STABILA for evaluation. Please package products appropriately as STABILA is not liable for any damage that occurs during shipping and will evaluate the product as it is received.

Product Evaluation:
A STABILA Service Technician will email your product evaluation upon completion of evaluation. STABILA will complete all laser evaluations within 2 business days and all level evaluations within 4 business days of being received at a repair center. If you wish to follow up with your product, please have tracking information, product information, and contact information ready to provide.

Product Replacement, Repair and Handling:
STABILA will complete and ship warranty replacement orders within 1 business day of evaluation. STABILA will complete and ship repair orders within 2 business days of repair authorization. STABILA will hold products for 45 days upon sending the product evaluation. If a response to the product evaluation is not received within 45 days, STABILA will dispose of the product.

Is The Level Accurate?
Please note that while "stacking" two levels together to compare vial readings is a common way to check a level, it is not the correct way to check a vial's accuracy.  With a stated accuracy of .029 degrees (1/32" in 72"), one level can be .029 degrees to the left and the other .029 degrees to the right, causing a slight difference in the compared bubble positions, while both bubbles still maintain their 1/32" in 72" accuracy.  The "correct" way to check a vial's accuracy can be done quickly by following the instructions below.

To check the "level" or "horizontal" vial's accuracy, place the level on any flat surface.

  • Make a mark on the flat surface at one end of the level.
  • Read the bubble & remember where it is.
  • Turn the level 180 degrees (end to end), placing the level right on the line drawn from the original end placement.
  • Read the level.
  • If the bubble returns to the same place, the level is accurate. If it does not, it is not accurate.
  • Do it again, regardless of the reading.

To check the "plumb" or "vertical" vials, place the level against any door frame or wall.

  • Make a mark on the wall beside the top vial.
  • Read the bubble & remember where it is.
  • Flip the level side for side (not end for end!).
  • Read the level.
  • If the bubble returns to the same place, the vial is accurate. If it does not, it is not accurate.
  • Do it again, regardless of the reading.

To check the second "plumb" vial, turn the level end for end. Repeat all of the steps as done for the first "plumb" vial.

All Laser, Tech (electronic) and Plate Levels should always be returned to STABILA for warranty evaluation.
