Laser technologies – which laser is suitable for which task?

Self-levelling pendulum lasers: quick and precise marking and transfer

One major advantage of pendulum technology is that it’s quickly ready and easy to use. The pendulum built into the laser oscillates freely and aligns itself by means of gravity. It's a robust, practical technology designed for the construction site.

Most STABILA point and line lasers use a built-in pendulum for adjustment. The measuring accuracy of pendulum lasers is usually 3/16 in @ 50 ft. This technology is particularly suitable for indoor use when working at a measuring range of up to 130 ft on visible lines or points.

Line lasers with pulsed lines can also be used together with a line receiver. This not only increases the working area but also makes it possible to work in bright ambient conditions.

Fully automatic, motor-driven lasers: accurately level large areas

Vollautomatische, motorgesteuerte Laser LAR 160

All STABILA rotation lasers and the LA 180 L multi-line laser feature an electronic actuator motor for automatic self-levelling and offer extremely high accuracy (3/32 in @ 100 ft to 1/8 in @ 100 ft).

Used in conjunction with a receiver, these precision tools are ideally suited for use over large distances in a working area of up to 1.300 ft. They offer great functionality and are flexible in their use both indoors and outdoors.

The measuring accuracy of laser levels is measured in millimetres per metre and indicates the maximum tolerance when taking a measurement. As a rule of thumb, the greater the measuring distance, the more accurately the laser level must measure.

LAR 350 – Welcome to the new era of laser control

MOTION CONTROL Fernbedienung

MOTION CONTROL
An intuitive remote control with in-built movement sensor. Turning the remote control to the right or left makes the movement sensor accelerate or decelerate the chosen laser function. This enables you to intuitively control numerous functions and settings at a measuring range of up to 65 ft.

LED ASSIST

LED ASSIST
The LEDs integrated into the laser casing light up to indicate various functions. The system helps you monitor the laser from a distance. This means there is no need for constant checking at the site of the laser, thus saving you time in your day-to-day work.

LAR 350 SECTION MODE

SECTION MODE
The rotating laser beam can be limited to a particular sector. This prevents the beam from interfering with other laser devices, avoiding malfunctions and visual distraction for other professionals working on site. Multiple lasers can now work on different tasks simultaneously and without hindrance.

Receivers: expanding the working area of the laser

Receivers are mainly used outdoors or for large distances indoors. A distinction is made between receivers for rotation lasers and receivers for pulse-modulated point and line lasers.

Using line receivers significantly enlarges the working area of a line laser. They also allow you to work when the laser beam is not visible, such as when there is strong sunlight.

The new, universally applicable receivers REC 500 RG (for rotation lasers and pulse-modulated line lasers) and REC 160 RG (for rotation lasers) can even be used for lasers with red or green laser diodes.

What are nanometres and how do they affect the visibility of the laser?

Nanometres are a unit of length – like metres or centimetres – used for measuring the wavelength of visible light. The human eye is only able to perceive a small range of the electromagnetic spectrum, from around 400 to 700 nm. The wavelength determines which colour we see. Lasers available on the market are usually red or green. How visible the laser line is depends on the wavelength. Green is easier for the human eye to perceive than red, which has a longer-wavelength.

So why is green easier to see than red? The human eye is not able to perceive every colour in the spectrum to an equal degree. The middle range of the visible spectrum (around 550 nm, or light green) is actually the easiest for it to perceive. Green is located right in the middle of this range, making it easier to see than red, which is at the upper end of the spectrum (630 nm). As a result, it can be as much as four times easier for the human eye to see green than red.

Green laser beams are 4 times more visible to the human eye than red beams. So, if you as a professional value exceptionally clear and visible laser lines, then the innovative STABILA GREENBEAM technology will impress you. It provides razor-sharp, extremely bright and long laser lines to make you even more efficient and productive.

Protection on construction sites: the robustness of STABILA lasers

To cope with even the toughest day-to-day conditions on construction sites, STABILA lasers are designed using hard-wearing materials. Stable aluminium and glass cages provide additional protection for the laser optics against dirt and impact.

STABILA PROTECTOR system

Extreme robustness is achieved by the STABILA PROTECTOR system, which is patented in many countries. This protects the laser (LAR 350 and LAR 300) perfectly, even if it is dropped. Simply set it up, switch it on and continue measuring with the same precision (impact protection from a maximum height of 1.80 m, tested when falling from a tripod on to a surface typically found at a construction site).

Waterproof and dustproof in accordance with protection class IP 65

LAX 600 im Staubtest

On all construction sites, indoors and outdoors, measuring devices are constantly exposed to dust and rain or are operated by people wearing dirty gloves. All lasers with protection class IP 65 are very simple to clean using only water (LAR 350, LAR 300, LAR 160, LAR 160 G, LAX 600, LAX 600 G).

High-performance battery technology for maximum flexibility

CORDLESS ALLIANCE SYSTEM (CAS)

CORDLESS ALLIANCE SYSTEM – cross-brand 12 V battery system

The high-performance CAS lithium-ion technology gives the laser a long operating life. Thanks to the CORDLESS ALLIANCE SYSTEM (CAS 12 V), all electric tools, 12 V batteries and chargers from different manufacturers can be combined and used together. This saves time, money and resources. That’s why CAS-compatible STABILA lasers are available both with and without a battery and charger – for professionals who already use other devices powered by CAS batteries.

STABILA rechargeable battery units

The optionally available lithium-ion rechargeable battery units give you the option of operating STABILA lasers with a rechargeable battery instead of a standard one. The powerful lithium-ion rechargeable batteries have short charging times and long operating times.

Safe handling of STABILA lasers

Lasers are essential aids for numerous construction trades. As with all tools, it is imperative to inform yourself about their proper handling and potential sources of danger before using them. Never look directly into a laser beam! It is extremely important to take precautions and be aware of the necessary protective measures to prevent accidents.
