STABILA Social Media Day

Influencers in various trades from all over Germany don’t often gather in one place. And yet that’s precisely what happened in early September, when 16 influencers, from electricians to master carpenters, made their way to the first Social Media Day at the STABILA premises in Annweiler.

After months of planning and preparations, the day finally came on 4 September: The social media team invited 16 attendees – a total of 14 chosen influencers and two wild card winners – to the STABILA premises, where they learned about production and measuring tools and got to know STABILA staff.

But the influencers did not come alone: They had around 250,000 followers on their social media profiles, who eagerly awaited their live feeds, photos and videos from STABILA HQ.

It goes without saying that this kind of social media presence takes a lot of preparation. The itinerary, catering, accommodation and, of course, the detailed hygiene measures needed to be carefully planned, as our priority was to keep everyone safe throughout this eventful day.

In early August, the social media team let everybody in on our best-kept secret – the Social Media Day – with the first post on the official STABILA Instagram account @stabila_official.

In early August, the social media team let everybody in on our best-kept secret – the Social Media Day – with the first post on the official STABILA Instagram account @stabila_official. Shortly afterwards, the community of some 110,000 followers at the time were given the opportunity to win an exclusive wild card and come along to the Social Media Day alongside the small group of influencers who had already been invited. Two lucky winners received their coveted wild cards in mid-August, enabling them to enjoy the full schedule of events together with the other attendees.

“We learned so much about spirit levels.
As a tradesperson, you tend to just grab the
spirit level and see nothing more than its exterior.
But you know what they say: It’s what’s on the
inside that counts. The insights were fascinating!”

After a welcome reception organised by Head of Marketing Mr Weinen and the social media team, as well as a virtual welcome message from the management team in the Czech Republic, the attendees were split into two groups.

One group headed to the Training Campus, which opened in 2016, and made its way through four exciting stations. First up was our museum, where attendees learned more about STABILA’s history and were amazed by the wooden spirit levels, some of which were more than 100 years old. At a large interactive station, they had the opportunity to try out various measuring tools and ask as many questions about the products as they liked – the product management employees handled this with ease. The attendees also took a look around the PoS showroom and put their hand-eye coordination to the test by inserting the metallic vial rings in the acrylic glass vial – a task that requires plenty of accuracy and finesse. The attendees also gave short interviews and showed off their strength in our R-Type Challenge.

The other group were treated to a detailed behind-the-scenes tour as the first visitors to see the STABILA production hall, which opened in summer 2020. Here they were shown how to make a spirit level step by step, from the original profile to coating and printing. The tour also included other important manufacturing aspects, such as warehousing, how we make and fill our famous vials and how we print the scales for the folding rules patented by STABILA in 1886.

After eating lunch together, the groups swapped places to experience either the campus or the behind-the-scenes tour. All attendees then gathered for the closing speech on the campus, where they awaited the announcement of the eagerly anticipated results of the R-Type Challenge. Felix Schröder (@gipserfelix) was crowned the winner with an exceptional time of 05:01 minutes. But the other attendees didn't have to worry about going home empty-handed – they were delighted by their individual goodie bags containing spirit levels, rules and so much more.

The day drew to the perfect close with a cosy dinner. Exclusive insights were, of course, recorded both on the @stabila_official Instagram account and on the attendees’ profiles – an unforgettable day for all involved!
