„You have all contributed to helping six families
to start a new life with dignity and without fear!“

Last year STABILA has once again been involved in a charitable project. Together with brand partners Bessey, Halder, Knipex and Parat, we set up the project United by Tools. Working in partnership with Ecuador Hilfe El Laurel e.V., we have constructed a total of six houses for families in need, each with four to five children. As well as financial support, the project provided tools from all five companies to construct the buildings.
Planning for this year's charity project began in 2023, with the companies involved discussing possible ideas. A shared goal gradually emerged, with all agreeing that the aim would be to provide assistance to families in Ecuador.
Working in partnership with Ecuador Hilfe El Laurel e.V., United by Tools made it possible to achieve exactly that. In a very short time, six new houses were constructed for six large families in El Laurel, a rural community in the canton of Daule in the Ecuadorian province of Guayas. The families all live on a meagre income, as the parents mostly work as agricultural day labourers. The work and the associated income always depend on the yield of the rice harvest. The old houses do not stand up well to winter, the constant rain causing leaky roofs, mildewed walls and damaged floors. In most cases, the only thing to do is tear down the old houses and build new ones.
So, at the beginning of 2024, a container made its way from Germany to Ecuador, filled with all the tools needed to build a house on stilts – from spirit levels and tape measures to hammers, clamps, pliers and toolboxes. This ensured that the local workers were well equipped, with high-quality tools that enabled them to construct the houses quickly and to a professional standard.
When the container arrived, the materials were inspected and sorted. Once the components for the houses had also arrived by lorry, building work could get underway at the selected sites. After a few weeks, most of the houses were already standing and in a little under three months, the work was finished.
Six delighted families were able to move into their new homes, furnish them and formally accept the title deeds. Feedback received from Ecuador shows how important this project was to the local area and the families. "You have all contributed to helping six families start a new life with dignity and without fear", wrote Fundación Hermano Miguel.
The donated tools will remain in the community so that they can be used again for future projects. "We will continue to take good care of these tools and use them for the benefit of the community in El Laurel", promises Fundación Hermano Miguel.
We are proud to be a part of #UnitedByTools and to have made this project possible with the help of our partners and Ecuador Hilfe El Laurel e.V.
